How different are Adidas vs Nike shoe sizes?

An 11 Adidas shoe size is a 10.5 Nike?

Let’s say you’re looking to buy a new pair of tennis shoes, you’re about to head to the shop or searching online, and want to make sure they will fit your size perfectly. I had a couple of emails talking about the trouble of sending things back to the retailer because the shoes didn’t fit.
With this article, I’m starting a series of posts that will provide a conversion table between shoe brands starting with Adidas vs Nike sizing, two of the most popular brands, saving you the trouble of guessing the size and having to return the product because it doesn’t fit.

Nike Shoe Tongue Tag

How to find the corresponding number between Adidas and Nike?

  1.  The first step is to grab a pair of shoes that you already own, either from Nike or Adidas.
  2. Locate the tag with sizing information underneath the tongue of your trainer. Take note of your size in cm. Adidas trainers may not have the information of the size in cm, so do this instead: look at the Japan sizing (JP) and convert the number which is in mm, to cm, for example, a JP size 275, should correspond to 27,5 cm.
  3. Using the centimeter information as a reference, find the corresponding size for Nike and Adidas in the table below. Easy!
The exception to this rule is if you’re buying a model of shoes that have a thinner upper material composition and tongue, such as the Adidas advantage. If that’s the type of shoes you’re going for, your size should be 0.50 cm smaller.
